Sensor Switch

The recent decade saw a tremendous breakout in solid state technology. As a result, the LED has been adopted in lighting
in a vast range.
The LEDs are believed to have longer lifespan with higher efficiency. Nevertheless, LEDs do not have a comparative advantage
over all incumbent lighting, for example, T5 three-band, as far as efficiency is concerned.
However, LEDs have two important characters which are instant on off and dimming. To explore those characters of LEDs,
Sensor Switch, an Acuity Brands company, develops a number of sensors for LED luminaires. They can be generally cataloged
into two groups: Occupancy Sensors and Photocell Sensors.
Occupancy sensors are used with LED luminaires in those places that continuous illumination is not necessary, for example,
in a warehouse. LED luminaries can automatically turn off once there is no person in the area for a fixed time period, and turn on
once it detects human or forklift moving.
Photocell sensors can turn on/off and dim the LED luminaries based on the environment brightness. Suitable to work with Sun
Optics (also an Acuity Brands company) skylight system, photocell sensors adjust the LED luminaires not to work at full power when
it is unnecessary.
Integrated with the sensors, the LED luminaires can work much more efficiently. Most of Acuity Brands LED luminaires are produced
with hot shoe adaptable to Sensor Switch sensors. This means no extra wires needed, easy installation, and totally compatible.
Locating in Connecticut State, Sensor Switch was founded in 1987, and was acquired by Acuity Brands Inc. in 2009. Sensor Switch
has been the industry leader in developing occupancy sensors, photocell sensors and timer switches for lighting control since its
beginning. Besides the sensor products for LED lighting, it also provides sensors for traditional lighting luminaires, indoor and outdoor.
